Family, friends gather to celebrate KHS Class of 2017
KALKASKA – The Kalkaska High School Class of 2017 received a fond farewell, as family, friends and staff members packed the high school’s gymnasium for the school’s 127th annual Commencement Exercises on Saturday, May 27.
The 113 graduates were led by their class officers, which included president Natalie Rhoades, vice president Katie Hoenicke, secretary Mackenzie Starr and treasurer Natalie Ryckman.
Rhoades addressed the packed crowd during her president’s address, as did co-valedictorians Andrew Bratton and Michael Harlan.
This year’s ceremony was made extra special, with 90-year-old Milton Mockerman of Muskegon finally receiving his diploma.
Mockerman was a KHS student when he dropped out of school to join the U.S. Navy in February 1944.
