FACS reports stable enrollment, despite pandemic

KALKASKA — At times, no change can be considered a positive.
That’s the current outlook of Forest Area Community Schools officials, after enrollment for the second count period of the 2020-21 school year revealed little had changed for the school district serving southern Kalkaska County.
According to FACS Supt. Joshua Rothwell, the school district reported an enrollment of 526 students in the first reporting period in October 2020. That number dropped to 521 students for the second reporting period last month.
