Ellsworth boys, girls headed to finals; Dawson also qualifies

GAYLORD — For the second straight year the Ellsworth boys and girls cross country teams are both qualified for the Division 4 state finals.

The Lancers’ teams earned a trip to the finals after finishing second to East Jordan at the regional on Saturday at Michaywe Pines Golf Course.

The Ellsworth boys scored 54 points, 17 behind the Red Devils and 13 ahead of Johannesburg-Lewiston to earn a fourth straight appearance at the state meet. The Ellsworth girls finished with a tally of 61, 18 points behind East Jordan and 25 points in front of Rogers City. Bellaire’s girls were sixth with 135 points.
