Ellsworth’s Romeyn medals at Division 4 cross country state meet

BROOKLYN — Ellsworth’s Isaiah Romeyn ended his high school cross country career by picking up some hardware.
The Lancers’ top runner finished in 21st place at Saturday’s Division 4 state finals to earn a medal for the second consecutive season, even though Romeyn didn’t run as well as he would have liked.
“I think my individual performance could’ve been a little bit better,” said Romeyn. “It wasn’t exactly what I had hoped for, but I put what I had out there for that day and I feel like I did my best for that day.”
Romeyn’s time of 17:08 was Ellsworth’s best on a day where the Lancers ended up 18th as a team, one point ahead of Kalamazoo Christian, but not as elite as a year ago when the Lancers set a school record with a fourth-place finish. The Ellsworth girls matched last year’s 17th-place finish to end the year on a high note.
