Elks name Messner as head football coach

ELK RAPIDS — The Elk Rapids School Board approved the hiring of Jake Messner as the next Elk Rapids varsity football head coach at their scheduled meeting on Tuesday night.
Messner has been a member of the Elks’ coaching staff for the past two seasons as the quarterback coach and is a special education teacher at the high school.
A 2007 graduate of Niles High School, Messner played quarterback for the Vikings, then went on to play four years of football at Olivet College.
