Eight starters return from record-setting Kalkaska softball team

KALKASKA — The Kalkaska softball team hopes to raise the bar this year.
After setting a school record with 37 wins, plus taking the Lake Michigan Conference and district championships, the Blazers have their sights set a little higher this time around.
“I have the same goals every year, win 20 games, win the conference and win the districts, but we upped (the goals) this year,” said Kalkaska coach Rik Ponstein. “It’s win 25 games, league, district and our goal this year is to win regionals.”
