To dress up, or down; that is the question

Look at old photos from 70 years ago and earlier, and one of the features that catches my attention is that the majority of men in the picture are wearing a dress shirt and necktie, and many are wearing suit coats. Even photos taken at some event in a rural farm field reveal men dressed in suits and ties.

I thought of those old photos as I looked at the photo of the new Antrim County Board of Commissioners taking their oath of office in last week’s Review. I was pleased to see that one of the newly elected commissioners was wearing, of all things, a dress shirt and necktie. How refreshing.
