MANCELONA – A Mancelona man who escaped custody after his arrest last week – leading authorities on a six-day search – was apprehended Monday morning.

Antrim County Sheriff Dan Bean said Devon Solgot, 23, of Mancelona, was found hiding in a home on Doerr Road in Chestonia Township and was arrested without incident.

Solgot had initially been arrested on Tuesday, May 29 in Mancelona Township on charges of domestic violence, but escaped while wearing handcuffs into the nearby woods of the rural area while waiting for authorities to complete complainant interviews.

He was located in Chestonia Township after authorities found an ATV at the Doerr Road location, which had been reported stolen a day earlier from a seasonal residence on Francis Road.

After fleeing on foot following his initial arrest last Tuesday at a home near Mancelona Road east of the village, Solgot was able to escape handcuffs placed on him by an area DNR Law Enforcement Officer, which led to a comprehensive search of the area over the next several days. That search included a number of law enforcement agencies, as well as the use of trained canine dogs.
