Deputy helps pulls senior from house fire

KALKASKA TWP. — Once he heard the call over the radio, Deputy Kyle Beaver of the Kalkaska County Sheriff Department knew he might be one of the first on scene of a house fire during the morning hours of Wednesday, Aug. 19, as he was less than a mile away.

And, just moments later, Beaver found himself pulling a 77-year-old woman away from the smoke-filled home before it became fully engulfed in flames.

According to KCSD reports, a caller advised that the residence in Kalkaska Township, near the intersection of M-66 and US-131, was on fire and that there was a person trapped inside the residence. That was at 10:24 a.m.
