Defense saves Blazers in win over Kingsley

KINGSLEY — The defense of the Kalkaska football team came to the rescue in Friday’s night’s game against Kingsley.

The Blazers (4-3) held the Stags off the scoreboard, including in Kingsley’s final drive in the last minute, posting their second shutout of the season with a 6-0 win that snapped a three-game losing streak. The victory also keeps the Blazers playoff hopes alive for another week.

Kalkaska head coach Jeremy Wilkinson felt it was the best overall performance his defense has put together as the Blazers limited the Stags to 173 total yards and forced three interceptions.
