Conservation district seeks renewal of 4-year millage
KALKASKA — Officials and supporters of the Kalkaska Conservation District are trying to get the word out. They want voters to once again approve a four-year, 0.25-mill millage renewal during the upcoming Aug. 4 primary election.
The funding request is one of three renewals being put before Kalkaska County voters in the primary election and, if approved, would generate an estimated $196,000 in revenue in its first year of being levied.
According to ballot language provided by the Kalkaska County Clerk’s Office, the renewal, if approved, would general funding “to assist landowners in the protection, enhancement, and restoration of natural resources, including invasive plant species control and household hazardous waste collection” within Kalkaska County.
