Communities continue to cope with COVID-19 restrictions and closures
REGION — As northern Michigan entered the third week of restrictions and the second week of a total "stay at home" order issued by Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, Antrim County continued to cope with what is, for many, a totally different life.
While some businesses and manufacturers, including Armor Express, Anchor Lamina, and EJ, Antrim County's three largest employers, have been deemed "essential" and remain in operation, some residents have taken voluntary layoffs, with many opting to stay home with children that have now been out of school for three weeks.
"it's just easier," said one parent employed at EJ, which is now located in Antrim County's Warner Township. "I don't have to worry about any of us being exposed to the virus if we stay home, and I don't have to find some kind of daycare for them."
