Commissioners resurrect proposed facilities master plans
BELLAIRE — Derailed for more than a year by public concerns over possible costs and the onset of COVID-19, the hot topic of the proposed facilities master plans once again lit up the Board of Commissioners' table during their meeting of Thursday, June 3.
At the request of the board, for the benefit of new board members, consultants Byce and Associates conducted a one-hour virtual review of the plans created in 2018 as possibilities for the county's consideration of future facilities.
As in 2018, the presentation showed the county's need for new or renovated jail facilities, and presented several options developed at costs as much as $75 million for replacement of the entire county complex in downtown Bellaire after several work groups and public meetings were held.
