Commissioners approve new airport hangar, Murphy Park timber sale

BELLAIRE — During an evening meeting on Nov. 18 that set a record for its brevity, with the entire meeting lasting just over an hour, Antrim County's Board of Commissioners briefly discussed timber sales policies with county forester Mike Meriwether, approved annual contracts with MSU Extension, Area Agency on Aging of Northwest Michigan, and Village of Central Lake, accepted an annual grant award for snowmobile patrols, and authorized the board chair to execute an agreement for the lease of land at the Antrim County Airport for a new hangar.

The lease for the new hangar, which will be constructed and maintained by Mehta Aviation, LLC, is for 20 years and must be renewed annually, with rent increases dependent upon the rate of inflation, which is expected to be five to nine percent in 2022.
