CENTRAL LAKE — During its first official virtual meeting on Wednesday, Jan. 13, held via Zoom, the Central Lake Village Council heard good news about a grant the village has received for upcoming sewer system improvements, reluctantly approved an amendment to the village's marijuana ordinance, and formally agreed to purchase a former bank building that will eventually become the new home of the police department and village offices.

With a motion by trustee Ralph Hines, supported by trustee Mike Ring, it was agreed to go ahead with the purchase of the 1,600 sq. ft. building located at 2530 Main at the corner of Main and North Street across the street from the Blue Pelican Inn for $83,000. Originally listed for sale for $97,000, the building constructed in 1960 that had been a former bank building and then North Shore Therapy has been vacant for a number of years.

Approval of the purchase came after a short discussion regarding the condition of the building, which will require $21,470 in lead and asbestos removal, approved later in the meeting.
