BYI to host open house fundraiser at Lakeside Lodge
BELLAIRE – It’s a first. But organizers hope it lays the groundwork for supporting its growing vision into the future.
The Bellaire Youth Initiative (BYI), which was formed in 2008 and offers a host of programs for local youth, will be hosting a unique fundraising event on Thursday, June 21.
While car washes, spaghetti dinners and bake sales are worthy efforts to support a cause, the upcoming BYI event offers something special, according to BYI Board Vice President Dee Lynch.
“This is a first,” she said. “It’s the largest fundraiser we have ever done, and it’s really going to be cool.”
That inaugural event is a limited opportunity to take part in an open house at the Lakeside Lodge on Torch Lake.
“They call it ‘the house of timber and glass,’ and it’s spectacular,” said Lynch. “Besides being built with the best materials available, it’s 13,000 square-feet and offers outstanding views of Torch Lake.”
The open house at 11332 S. East Torch Lake Drive will run from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., and offer supervised parking under the direction of Dockside owner Gordy Schafer. Tickets are on sale now for $20/person and available at Alden State Bank (in Alden, Bellaire and Elk Rapids), and Huntington Bank in Bellaire.
