BOC needs to respond to the real issues

The election is over, and the ballots have been counted without any drama and misadventure. Thank you Sheryl Guy! As a candidate for Board of Commissioners I ran knowing that I would be facing an uphill climb to defeat an incumbent and I was running as a Democrat. Although the five incumbent commissioners were reelected, two ran unopposed while three had opposition for the first time in a very long time. What transpired should be a wakeup call for BOC - today and going forward. Between Ray Kuiper, Scott Kruger and myself we garnered nearly 3000 votes. The fact that two Democrats and one independent received almost 40% of the vote in only three districts in Antrim County speaks volumes in how dissatisfied a large segment of the population is with the performance of the BOC. One would think that had people had a choice in the other two districts the numbers would better reflect the countywide dissatisfaction of BOC performance. It’s time for the BOC to respond to the real issues of our community instead of placing band-aids on open wounds.
