BOC hires Rhinos coach as new Kaliseum director

KALKASKA – Krzysztof Oliwa, a former NHL player and owner/coach of the Kalkaska Rhinos Junior “A” Hockey team, has added yet another title before his name.
The Kalkaska County Board of Commissioners unanimously voted, 7-0, to hire Oliwa, the only Polish-born NHL player to have won the Stanley Cup, as the next director of the Kaliseum Recreation Complex at a special meeting that lasted a little more than a half hour on May 19. The vote followed another special meeting on May 15, at which commissioners interviewed four candidates for the vacancy.
District No. 3 Commissioner Kohn Fisher said he believes Oliwa was the obvious choice to take over management duties at the county-owned recreation facility.
