BOC, fair board seek to reach agreement on lease
KALKASKA – The Kalkaska County Agricultural Fair needs a lease agreement before hosting this year’s county fair in late July. And, the Kalkaska County Board of Commissioners would also like to reach an agreement.
But, there’s a sticking point. That would be the nearly $9,000 in rental fees the county board is seeking from the fair for hosting the event on county property.
At the commissioners’ regular monthly meeting June 21, board members voted, 5-0, with commissioners Michael Buchanan and James Sweet being absent, to approve a “lease agreement format” that would give county fair organizers access to the Kalkaska County Civic Center and county fairgrounds for two weeks, July 14-30.
