KALKASKA — The Kalkaska softball team needed to sweep East Jordan to share the Lake Michigan Conference championship and that’s exactly what the Blazers got, winning the two games 12-0 and 3-2.

Taylor Kooistra had three hits, including a home run, and drove in three runs in the first game, where the Blazers had complete control. Makenzie Wilkinson had two hits and three RBIs, Jaime Potter slugged two doubles and drove in four runs, and MaKenzie Leach had two hits and an RBI.

Leach was the winning pitcher, walking two, fanning seven and giving up three hits.

Kalkaska (28-3, 13-1 LMC) clinched the share of the title with a hard-fought win in the second game. East Jordan took a 1-0 lead in the top of the third, but Kalkaska responded with three runs in the bottom of the inning. The Red Devils closed the gap with a run in the fifth, but that’s all they could muster.

Wilkinson allowed six hits and struck out eight. Leach had three of Kalkaska’s five hits and drove in a run.
