Blazers defeat Harbor Springs to get back on the winning side
KALKASKA — The Kalkaska boys basketball team was glad to see a six-game losing skid vanish after the Blazers stepped up and knocked off Harbor Springs, 53-31, on Friday.
The Blazers (2-7, 2-7 LMC) got tough defensively to break open a close game as the Rams couldn’t generate much offense against the stout Kalkaska defense, which recorded its lowest point total allowed.
After Kalkaska took a 12-11 lead into the second quarter, it held Harbor Springs to just six points in the second period to lead 29-17 at the half, and three points in the third. Kalkaska was comfortably ahead 44-20 at the end of the third period.
