Blazers break losing streak with big win over Grayling
KALKASKA — The Kalkaska boys basketball team snapped out of a seven-game funk on Friday when it knocked off Lake Michigan Conference rival Grayling, 49-46.
The Blazers overcame a tough night of shooting by playing stout defense and keeping the Vikings in check. Kalkaska avenged a 21-point loss to Grayling that started the seven-game losing streak the Blazers carried into the game. This time, however, the Blazers turned the tables.
“This time we were really prepared for their full court defense,” said Kalkaska coach Matt Olds.
Grayling threw several looks at Kalkaska — a 2-2-1, an extended 3-2 and a halfcourt 1-2-2 — to try and tie up the Blazers but they were up to the task, maintaining their composure and executing their offense.
