Blazer track athletes qualify for state finals

On Friday, the Kalkaska track and field team competed at regionals in Clare with the boys team taking third and the girls team placing fifth out of 14 teams from around the region. It was the best finish for the girls since 2014 and the boys haven’t placed as well since 2018.
Gavin Guggemos took second in the 1,600- and 3,200-meter runs with times of 4:41.90’ and 10:24.26,’ respectively, which qualified him for the state finals on June 3 in Kent City. Guggemos, Camden Moore, Adam Williams and Lucian Caspari also took third in the 3,200-meter relay and advanced to the state final based on the squad’s season best time.
