Bellaire's season ends in quarterfinal loss to Sacred Heart

SCOTTVILLE -- Its first trip to the Class D girls basketball quarterfinals didn't turn out well for the Bellaire Eagles when they ran into a buzzsaw in the taller and more experienced Mount Pleasant Sacred Heart Irish, falling 49-29 at Mason County Central High School in Scottville Tuesday night.

After winning their first three postseason games by an average of 23 points, the Eagles earned their first regional championship with a double overtime, 46-43 conquest of Rogers City.

Bellaire came into the quarterfinals riding a nine-game winning streak, and what the Eagles felt was a healthy dose of momentum. Unfortunately, they never got into an offensive flow against the Irish.
