BELLAIRE — The Bellaire girls and the Mancelona boys track teams were the cream of the crop at the Ski Valley Conference Championships on Wednesday, May 22, with each finishing first atop the team standings.

It was the second straight league crown for the Ironmen, who dominated the league finals as they had throughout the year. Mancelona scored 234.5 points to run away with the title, finishing well in front of Johannesburg-Lewiston (161 points). Central Lake was sixth with 31 points and Bellaire took seventh with 22 points.

“This is a great group that believes in themselves and each other,” said Mancelona boys coach Rick Ancel.

Bellaire’s girls slipped past Inland Lakes to capture the crown behind a balanced, team effort, scoring 145 points to the Bulldogs’ 137 to win its first league title since 2013. Mancelona took third with 100. Forest Area was fifth with 71 and Central Lake finished seventh with 27.
