Bellaire finishes second at Pellston tourney

PELLSTON — A Bellaire volleyball team with a ton of returning experience got its first taste of competition for 2019 when it finished second at the Pellston Invitational on Saturday.
The Eagles went undefeated in pool play to earn the No. 1 seed in bracket play, and after beating St. Ignace 23-25, 25-19, 15-11 in the semifinals, they stumbled in a tough match against Rudyard for the tournament championship, falling 9-25, 25-16, 8-15.
Despite the loss, Bellaire and head coach Kelli Fischer were feeling pretty good about their performance.
“An overall great day,” said Fischer. “I am very proud of how much they improved throughout the day. They are a great team to watch and coach. Everyone contributes to the team.”
