BELLAIRE — During its most recent meeting on Wednesday, Nov. 3, the Bellaire Village Council received updates on construction of the village's new public restrooms and ball fields, approved a map of the downtown area created by the village's Downtown Development Authority (DDA), and increased campground rates at the village's Craven Park Campground.

Noting that, in recent years, the park's low overnight and monthly camping rates had begun to attract a "less than desirable clientele," according to Police Chief Bill Drollinger, the Council agreed to increase overnight camping rates to $35 for sites with full sewer, electric, and water hook-ups, and monthly rates to $750, an increase of $275 a month. Seasonal rates for use of the campground from April 1 to Oct. 31 were increased to $5,000, an increase of $2,500 over the village's 2021 seasonal camping rates. Rustic sites will be $20 per day, and sites without sewer hook-ups but with water and electric will be $25 a day.

Law enforcement was frequently called to the campground last season, Drollinger said.

" We were over there four times as much as we usually are," he said.
