BELLAIRE — After several years of consideration, the Village of Bellaire made the decision to move forward on construction of downtown public restrooms, as well as new ball fields at Craven Park during the Village Council's monthly meeting last week.

The motion to move forward with public restrooms came after DPW Supervisor Bradley Keiser presented concept plans drawn up by local Bellaire engineer Jim Barnard.

The plans for the restrooms, which will be constructed on the village-owned lot adjacent to Shorts Brewing Company where the former Masonic building was located, call for three individual unisex bathrooms with a 22-foot by 50-foot heated pavilion and a mechanical room, Keiser pointed out.

"Pipes will be laid in front of the pavilion that will allow for a heated sidewalk in the future," Keiser noted of the plans, adding that the bathrooms and pavilion will be constructed behind the village's large Christmas tree on the lot.
