Bachmann's opens online store
CENTRAL LAKE – In 1942, Paul and Winnie Bachmann opened a small store on Main Street in downtown Central Lake where residents, as well as visitors to the area, could purchase everything from penny candy and hardware, to household accessories, clothing and Christmas decorations.
From yo-yos to potato peelers and yarn for that handmade throw, Bachmann's has it all, according to the couple's granddaughter Michelle Fox, who noted the store's motto – "If we don't have it, you don't need it!"
"We've always been an integral part of the Central Lake community, where everyone came for what they needed, as well as something that made them smile," said Fox last week. "It's reassuring to all of our residents and annual visitors alike to know that when they come into downtown Central Lake, Bachmann's is still here for them."
Fox hopes to ensure the future of her family’s historic business with a new venture that she recently undertook, announcing that after 75 years of continuous operation, the historic shop's unique offerings will now also be available online.
