Antrim, Kalkaska coming back to life just in time for start of summer tourist season

REGION - Just in time for the Memorial Day weekend and the start of another desperately-needed summer tourist season, on Monday, May 18, Gov. Gretchen Whitmer gave the thumbs up for restaurants, bars, and retail shops to open in Region 6, which includes Antrim and Kalkaska counties, on Friday, May 22.
The sighs of relief could be heard all over northern Michigan, but there was a note of caution as well.
Almost immediately, businesses everywhere began scrambling to be ready to welcome customers into their establishments once again, even if it is at a reduced level of 50 percent with face masks, hand sanitizers, and social distancing requirements.
