Alfred, Guggemos win track and field regional titles; McClure breaks two school records

EAST JORDAN — Mancelona’s Jayden Alfred and Kalkaska’s Tyler Guggemos both came through with regional titles, among the many highlights for local athletes who competed at Saturday’s Division 3 regional in East Jordan.
Alfred won the high jump with a leap of 6-0, while Guggemos was first in the 3,200 with a time of 10:08.94.
For Alfred, the high jump was one of four events where the Mancelona standout qualified for the state finals after coming in second in the 100 (11.7), 200 (23.63) and long jump (20-8).
Guggemos also joined Hayden Moore, Gavin Guggemos and Camden Moore on the second-place finishing 4x800 relay team, which ran an 8:42.63.
