Alcohol, speed considered factors in fatal crash
SPRINGFIELD TWP. — Alcohol and speed are being reported as possible factors in a fatal crash that claimed at least one life in the evening hours of Thursday, April 22, according to Kalkaska County Sheriff Department officials.
According to reports, KCSD deputies “came across” a single-vehicle accident on Ingersoll Road, west of Creighton Road, in Springfield Township shortly before 8:30 p.m. last Thursday.
“There were three victims outside the vehicle and one victim trapped inside,” Sheriff Patrict Whiteford said in a prepared statement. “Deputies immediately began to render aid to the victims and notified Kalkaşka Central Dispatch of the emergency and requested assistance from fire and EMS services.”
One of the individuals, 21-year-old Haley Nicole Stangler of Kinglsey, was reportedly pronounced dead at the scene.
