12 safe after pontoon capsizes

ALDEN — Twelve people are safe after their rented pontoon boat capsized in the middle of Torch Lake Saturday afternoon. 

Stephen Kennedy, of Toledo, Ohio, was nearby on another boat with his wife, parents and sister Gina O'Brien, of Pittsburgh, and her husband at approximately 2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 22 when the accident happened in deep water south of Alden.

"We were just coming back from the sandbar at the south end of the lake when we saw a big double decker pontoon pulling a tuber in circles around the lake," Kennedy said.
