BELLAIRE – After receiving approval from the Antrim County Board of Commissioners last year, a new Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) is preparing for action when the need arises.
ALBA – The Chestonia Township Board of Trustees will discuss a proposal for a medical marijuana processing facility in the township at its April meeting, according to township supervisor Gerald Averill.
REGION – Although most will not open until spring, approximately 6,300 miles of roads in Michigan’s four-million-acre state forest system will open to off-road vehicles Jan. 1, while about 1,200 miles will remain closed.
REGION – For most throughout the area, 2017 was a good year overall – with one of the best tourism seasons in years, while welcoming more employment, construction, real estate sales, new businesses and residents to the area.
ALBA – Although other areas, like Kingsley and Kalkaska, have been in the news recently regarding applications for commercial medical marijuana facilities, Antrim County is not being ignored by those interested in starting marijuana businesses.
ELMIRA – Antrim County bar owner Larry Sevenski will not serve any jail time for his July felony conviction on charges of resisting, obstructing and assaulting an officer.
ECHO TOWNSHIP – Two signs proclaiming the imminent appearance of a much-promoted "glampground" in Echo Township have been removed. Instead, a locked gate and several "No Trespassing" signs mark the location where the glorified camping resort was to have been located.
ELMIRA – Pending the final approval of the Antrim County Board of Commissioners, American Waste is hoping to build a $2 million waste transfer and recycling plant in Antrim County’s Warner Township.
