Without a doubt: Blazers capture third straight district title

WEST BRANCH — The Kalkaska softball team did a pretty good impression of a steamroller at Saturday’s Division 2 district.

The Blazers (32-5) outscored their competition 29-4, with six home runs among the 33 hits they collected in two games, to convincingly win their third consecutive district championship.

Kalkaska knocked off Gaylord 16-0 in five innings in the semifinal round and finished the day with a 13-4 triumph over Gladwin in the championship game.
