When need arose, system worked for township supervisor
BELLAIRE – Whenever longtime Forest Home Township Supervisor Terry Smith was lobbying for funding for the Township Ambulance Authority, which he did frequently as president of the ambulance service for more than 16 years, he would often end with "You never know when you might be the person who needs it."
On Saturday, Oct. 28, he was the person who needed it.
"That morning, I'd been working out at the Glacial Hills Natural Area, another longtime project of Forest Home Township's that I've been involved with since the beginning," he said. "Keeping the many miles of trails we have out there clear of tree limbs and debris is something that needs to be done almost all the time, so I had ridden up there on my ATV, as I do often, and was working on the trail back in the hills when I began to have chest pains."
