Warner Twp. may consider medical marijuana facility

ELMIRA – As Michigan's Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA) continues accepting applications for medical marijuana facility licenses, which officially began on Dec. 15, most of Antrim County's municipalities have opted out of considering medical marijuana manufacturing and sales facilities, including, most recently, both Milton and Elk Rapids townships.

But not all of the county's 15 townships have made that decision.

Several townships, including Star – which recently entertained and turned down a request to allow a medical marijuana grow and processing facility – along with Jordan and Warner townships, have no ordinances or resolutions for or against legalized marijuana businesses at all, with at least one of those townships having been previously told that by doing nothing medical marijuana businesses would not be allowed.

But after a recent inquiry from an Antrim County resident, Warner Township may consider the possibility, according to township supervisor Martin Franckowiak.
