Voters to decide on CLPS bond proposal for buses
CENTRAL LAKE – Registered voters in the Central Lake Public School District will be asked to head to the polls Tuesday, Aug. 8 to decide whether or not the school district should borrow funds to purchase new school buses.
The six-year bond proposal will allow the district to borrow a total of $380,000 that, if approved by voters, will be repaid by taxpayers within the district at a maximum rate of .16 mills, or 16 cents on each $1,000 of taxable value. It is believed that no more than .15 mills will need to be levied per year to retire the bond.
Pursuant to state law, the expenditure of bond proceeds must be audited, and the proceeds cannot be used for repair or maintenance costs; teacher, administrator or employee salaries; or other operating expenses.
