Village updates medical marijuana ordinance
KALKASKA – Once again, the Kalkaska Village Council tweaked the village medical marijuana ordinance at its regular meeting Monday, Aug. 28, in an effort to stay ahead of changes at the state level.
The village council first passed a pair of ordinances – one related to zoning, the other to provide guidelines for licensure – to oversee potential marijuana dispensaries in March 2014. Since then, it has approved updates, as state lawmakers have updated the Michigan Marijuana Act.
The ordinances included zoning guidelines to oversee and regulate the placement and operation of medical marijuana dispensaries, and a second, lengthy regulation and licensing ordinance.
