Village receives drug disposal box from KCSD
KALKASKA — The Village of Kalkaska recently made a very important addition to its lobby at the village offices on Hyde Street, thanks in part to the Kalkaska County Sheriff Department.
It’s not hard to miss. It’s the big red (for now) medication disposal box.
“The drug box was a gift from the sheriff’s office, when they received their new one,” said Sgt. Aaron Popa of the Kalkaska Department of Public Safety. “That’s available right there in the lobby.
“The objective is preventing meds from getting into the water supply.”
According to village officials, local residents may drop off or dispose of unneeded or out-of-date medications by placing them in the drop box.
