Village president hopeful Harley Wales to host meet and greet

KALKASKA – Voters interested in meeting village president candidate Harley Wales will have their chance after the 82nd Annual National Trout Festival Grand Royale Parade on Saturday, April 28.

After walking in the parade, Wales will be at the office of Sensible Financial Solutions (Village Stations - 103 Third St.) until 5 p.m. to meet with voters and other community members.

“I'm really looking forward to the opportunity of meeting up with folks after the Grand Royal parade,” said Wales. “I am hoping to hear future suggestions, and answer questions regarding our village.”

Wales has worked for the long-term care center of Kalkaska Memorial Health Center for the past 12 years and has been a homeowner in the village for the past decade. Before working at the hospital, Wales spent several years in management positions, both for family operations and for large corporations.

As a candidate for village president, Wales has made revitalizing Kalkaska’s historic downtown a focus of his platform.

“Our community has a lot to offer and our downtown has a great deal of potential for growth,” he said. “We need a village president with the skills and knowledge to restore our downtown. Using my business management skills, I will encourage and support small businesses downtown. Working with our DDA, I will implement new strategies to support our current local businesses as well as attract new ones.”
