Village officials consider razing former Dr. Babcock house
KALKASKA – A residence in Kalkaska, once the source of controversy, could soon be history.
Scott Yost, Kalkaska village manager, informed the members of the Kalkaska Village Council at their regular meeting Monday, Jan. 11, that the village-owned home at 404 S. Coral St. could be demolished during the upcoming 2021-22 budget year, which runs from March 1 through Feb. 28.
Kalkaska Memorial Health Center officials deeded the house, the former residence of Dr. Edgar Babcock, for $1 as a gesture of goodwill in December 2016. That was after KMHC purchased the home the previous year with plans to possibly use the property for future expansion.
