Village Forum to bring together public, candidates prior to Election Day
KALKASKA – A public forum for the Village of Kalkaska candidates will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 24 at the Kalkaska High School Cafeteria.
All candidates have been invited, including one candidate for a two-year president term, seven candidates for three four-year trustee terms, and two write-in candidates for a two-year trustee term.
“It is encouraging to see the amount of candidates vying for these positions,” said Kalkaska for Peace Treasurer Lauren Clark. “We are looking forward to a great turnout and a great event.”
The forum will begin with each candidate answering five introductory questions which include topics such as community involvement, funding priorities and the future of Kalkaska.
Members of the public who attend the forum will be able to submit additional questions for the moderator to ask the candidates.
The event will be moderated by Valerie Thornburg, the 2018 Kalkaska Citizen of the Year.
Next Wednesday’s forum is being organized by Kalkaska for Peace, a nonpartisan group of Kalkaska residents working to promote political engagement and transparency, as well as conversations about diversity and community involvement.
