Veterans group seeks to purchase former elementary school
KALKASKA - The doors to South Boardman Elementary School could soon be reopened, but not to the pitter-patter of hundreds of young students.
Instead, the school, which had been operated by Forest Area Community Schools, could be repurposed to temporarily house veterans and their families to help them transition to life in the civilian world.
FACS Supt. Joshua Rothwell confirmed the local school district has received and accepted an offer to purchase the elementary school located on Boardman Road in South Boardman, just east of US-131.
