Vet group expects to close on former elementary school soon

KALKASKA — A regional veterans group had hoped to have the keys to the former South Boardman Elementary School in hand by the end of June and move forward with plans to convert the school into temporary housing for military veterans and their families.
That didn’t happen.
Instead, Ray McDaniel, vice president of 22-2 None, said the veteran’s group is seeking “to close” on the property in the next week to 10 days.
