Trojans feature good experience, but low numbers
CENTRAL LAKE — Experience won’t be a problem for the Central Lake girls basketball team this year.
A season ago, a young Central Lake team took some lumps early before finishing the year strong. Now, six of those players are back, including senior Finch Vanniman, Central Lake’s leading scorer and rebounder last year.
Vanniman headlines a small roster of players. Central Lake has just 13 players between the varsity and junior varsity and will adjust accordingly as the season goes. Right now, head coach Quinn Barry is planning to have six players on the varsity, meaning every player on the squad would have varsity experience.
“I may move a couple more up depending on what circumstances we’re in,” said Barry. “It’s one of those years where the kids that I have are all going to play. It’s a matter of staying healthy and keeping everybody from not getting the flu bug, or something like that, so we can be consistent throughout the year.”
