Trautman waits on the NFL’s call this week

DAYTON — Adam Trautman ended his record setting career as an Elk Rapids quarterback on Halloween in 2014 in a playoff loss at Boyne City.

Small schools in northern Michigan tend to be overlooked by the bigger colleges, including Trautman, who was not looked at by bigger colleges, despite his many records, along with earning first team all-conference as a junior and senior, and being voted the league MVP as a senior in a unanimous decision. Trautman decided to attend the University of Dayton, which wanted him as a quarterback, and redshirted him his freshman year.

“Being redshirted was the best thing to happen to me,” Trautman said. “I was coming right out of high school, and I’m on a team with a lot of good veterans. It was the best opportunity for me to adjust to college level football and develop my body as well.”
