Transfer, recycling plant proposed for Warner Twp.

ELMIRA – Pending the final approval of the Antrim County Board of Commissioners, American Waste is hoping to build a $2 million waste transfer and recycling plant in Antrim County’s Warner Township.

The proposal was approved Monday by the county’s Finance Committee, which meets monthly and is attended by all nine Commissioners.

“Out of the blue, a couple of weeks ago, we were contacted by American Waste,” said Antrim County Administrator Pete Garwood during the meeting. “They told us that they were interested in buying a nine-acre parcel of undeveloped land on M-32 adjacent to the BP gas station near the intersection of US-131, but had discovered that the property was in tax foreclosure.
