Township continues with plans for annual ‘spring cleanup’
RAPID RIVER TWP. — Concerns over the COVID-19 pandemic have caused many events to be canceled or postponed, from the Summer Olympics to local celebrations including the National Trout Festival.
But, according to Rapid River Township officials, the township’s annual “Spring Cleanup” is still “a go” for Friday, May 29.
Working in conjunction with Area Waste, township residents will be able to get rid of an amount of trash equaling what could be lifted by two average individuals. Certain restrictions do apply, such as no tires.
“The official date is May 29-30,” said Rhonda Argyle-Williams, Rapid River Township treasurer. “But, (Area Waste crews) often go through Thursday to get a head start.”
“Have your items out by Thursday night to be picked up Friday and possibly into Saturday,” Argyle-Williams added. “Area Waste makes one trip down each road, in no particular order, starting on Friday.”
