MANCELONA – In continuing with a years’ long tradition, the Mancelona Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring several summer concerts at Triangle Park in its downtown district. Four musical concerts are planned for July and August, and all are invited to attend the free events.

Kicking off the entertainment on Tuesday, July 10 is the Petoskey Steel Drum Band. The band brings unique sounds to events throughout Michigan and the United States. The group is made up of about 30 students who perform a blend of Caribbean steel drum music with contemporary tunes. The combination of rhythms and vocals captivates audiences and creates an exciting, enjoyable experience for everyone.

One week later, on July 17, Trending: Classic continues the series. The band formed within the past year with the music talents of Greg Butler, Alex Fleet and Kevin Schultz. The trio delivers good, quality blues and the classic rock music of Bob Seger, the Rolling Stones, The Eagles, ZZ Top, Eric Clapton and numerous other artists.

The third concert is scheduled for Tuesday, July 24 and features The Miracles. Band members are locals who enjoy getting together to sing, play guitar, and share a few laughs and fun stories with the audience. Their country music favorites will have line dancers on their feet, toes tapping and promising a night of good, wholesome entertainment for the family.

Closing out the 2018 concert season is Kenny Thompson, who returns on Tuesday, Aug. 7. Thompson’s bright smile and outgoing personality blend well with his gift of music, making him one of the most well-known and requested musicians in the area. Thompson is a solo artist who plays guitar and sings to background music. He delivers a variety of music that all can enjoy.
